Entirely in keeping with the old-world charm of Highgate Village, this tiny tearoom with its bunting, chandeliers made from vintage teacups, & fluffy cream cakes under glass cloches, is a slice of perfectly pitched nostalgia. Owner Georgina Worthington & her tea ladies serve up ‘scrumptious treats’ with a smile, to everyone from yummy mummies to well-behaved teenage boys. Organic flour, eggs & butter go into lemon drizzle cakes & Victoria sponges, & there’s wheat-free, almond-heavy chocolate orange cake too, as well as ice cream from Marine Ices. Coffee is Union Fairtrade & tea is specially blended loose leaf: British Breakfast, London Afternoon Blend or even Miss Worthington’s Rose. You can buy tea to take home, along with teapots, cow creamers & bejewelled pumps – for sale after numerous enquiries about the staff’s prettily dressed feet.
