Square Meal Review of Hummingbird Bakery Notting Hill ?

Ever since a Manolo-clad Carrie Bradsaw first strolled around the West Village with one, they’ve been in huge demand. No, it’s not the latest ‘it’ bag; we’re talking cupcakes – pastel frosted, sugary, wicked cupcakes. It was Hummingbird Bakery – then with just one wee shop on Portobello Road – that got the trend going in London, & it now has several branches dotted about the capital. All baked on site, the cakes are lovely looking things & are available in signature flavours such as red velvet, carrot & vanilla, plus daily specials such as Brooklyn blackout (chocolate custard on a chocolate base). Cheesecakes, brownies & classic American pies (Key lime, Mississippi mud, Whoopie etc) are further temptations, also available to eat in with a good strong cup of coffee
