A little slice of Greenwich Village in Clapham, this is an ideal place to meet for a coffee, though it’s unlikely you’ll be able to stop at that. The array of cakes & pastries here is enough to break diets at breakfast & teatime, while the salads & quiches with a juice or a glass of wine at lunch & in the evening make for a treat. There are more delis of this type around than there were five years ago, but Esca has been doing the job admirably for at least that length of time & its staff know exactly what their customers want. The management has rolled out the idea around town & it’s no surprise that they’re doing well.
