A groovy bar run by clever people who use the premises to the full, The Peacock is as much cocktail bar as it is club, hen-night venue & prime spot for Sunday lunch. The whole caboodle is housed in an attractively quirky Victorian building, with hand-me-down standard lamps next to loudly upholstered chaise longues. Choose your time carefully when booking: early-evening cupcake classes morph into burlesque dancing & a full-on club night, via cocktail-making classes. Unless it’s Sunday, eat elsewhere (the menu here consists of routine grazing platters, tapas trays & the like), but if you want to drink & party, you’ve found the right place. Come with few preconceptions – except that the music will be good, the drinks well-made, & the vibe simply brilliant.
