The Queen of Hoxton

Formerly known as Industry, this vibrant space has changed its modus operandi & now pitches its wares firmly at Hoxton trendies rather than City suits. Window etchings & graffiti set the mood on the ground floor, while the games room attracts fans of table football & Brighton-pier pinball machines. The entire place throbs with creative energy, & lures in arty types with its rolling gallery of installations, photo exhibitions & screenings alongside fringe theatre & music. The soundtrack veers from indie bands to punk & electro; the gents’ & ladies’ washrooms serve as exhibition spaces; & there’s an incongruously pretty (& hireable) roof garden & barbecue, overshadowed by neighbouring office towers. Bar food is available Wednesdays to Fridays (6-11pm). There’s also a basement bar, which sells itself as a ‘youth club for the adults of the east side’. Note the door charge at weekends.
