The epitome of lo-fi, the new & improved Dragon bar boasts able & friendly staff as well as deliberately understated decor, with the now-ubiquitous exposed brickwork & eccentric examples of taxidermy looming over the locals. During the day, this two-floor venue is quite airy & amicable, with customers nestling into leather sofas & swivel chairs while grazing on comfort food of the burger/steak sandwich variety. Draught beers include the tasty & refreshing Blue Mountain from Virginia (served with an orange wedge!), & there’s also a decent range of attractively priced cocktails, including perfectly judged espresso martinis. Head in after dark, & the mood becomes clubby & seriously low-lit – avoid the weekends if you want a quiet one late at night.
