Beyond the expansive summertime terrace and the ultra-cool steel and glass exterior of this ever-so-trendy branch of C&B is an ember-bright orange bar, glowing like a homing device for sharp-suited lawyers. White ‘tramlines’ painted on the floor, a long mahogany bar and red leather banquettes set the tone in the vast ground-floor space, or you can dodge the crowds by heading up to the mezzanine. Wine is the focus here, and the place cheekily provides a cheat’s guide entitled ‘wines to impress’ if you’re entertaining clients. If you’re also dining them at lunchtime, the brasserie-style menu promises everything from posh sandwiches to lemon-seared sea bream with tomato and almond dressing. Breakfasts are often of the Champagne variety (if business is looking good) and the whole place can be hired for private bashes at the weekend.
