Like its fashionable Mumbai namesake, this London newcomer deals in modern Indian cuisine with the emphasis on seafood. Head chef Ravi Deulkar, fresh from Rasoi Vineet Bhatia, is ably supported front of house by smart, eager staff. Upmarket yet unpretentious, Trishna boasts two adjoining dining rooms plus a private space downstairs, all with a contemporary, pared-back decor well-suited to the stylish Marylebone crowd. Diners can choose small plates (pakoras & the like) or dishes from the grill including excellent char-grilled lamb cutlets with a tangy mustard seed salad, as well as larger Trishna specialities. The signature whole crab in a buttery garlic & peppercorn sauce is a must, with tools & a fingerbowl provided for anyone tackling the unpicked shell. Puddings are equally memorable: creamy rice pudding with a slick of mango & hint of chilli, or earthy spiced carrot cake, say.

This seafood Indian restaurant is a gem in Marylebone. I have been to this restaurant several times since its opening – it has never failed to impress friends and clients that I brought along. The restaurant really knows how to serve its seafood in authentic Indian style. Order the crispy squid served with chilli and lime – it is simply superb. My best friend and I really enjoyed the coriander and mint coated seabream. The lamb chops marinated with Kashmiri chilli, mustard and ginger are really succulent – it simply melts in your mouth. My boyfriend and I love the seafood biryani served with daal and yoghurt. The wine list is also very impressive. I have been to many Indian restaurants before but this is the only one that knows how to serve authentic Indian tea! The staff are very friendly and happy to serve you. The setting is stylish and contemporary, yet warm and cozy.

We visited Trishna on Monday 23rd November for a 10 year reunion.
We had the private dining room and sampled the innovative 3 courses for £25 menu, which allowed you to have 3 items from the menu + rice and bread – incredible value! It also included a glass of prosecco and a dessert (although most of us didn't have room!)

The rest of the restaurant was very busy (on a monday night!!) – so book early to avoid disappointment.

The menu had 3 sections, starters, mains and vegetarian dishes – we could pick 3 from any section – thus meaning if we wanted 3 mains, we could have done! This menu was EXCELLENT value!
I had the lamp chops (additional supplement of £1 per piece, totally worth it! I had 2)
Seafood biryani and paneer. It was so tasty – flavoursome and really different to ordinary indian food found in the UK.

This is probably because this restaurant takes it flavours from India as opposed to Bangladesh, the origins of many UK curry houses.

The private dining room was classy and elegant – grey slated tiles surrounded the beautiful rectangle table capable of… More

My wife and I ate at Trishna's on a Saturday night. We went for the tasting menu which was phenomenal. The flavours were spectacular and the dishes just kept coming. Totally worth the money and arguably the best indian food we've had in London. Service was unintrusive but attentive and the atomosphere was sophisticated but not pretentious. We will definitely be going back and taking family and friends with us.

Trishna London, what a find. Best Indian food we had for a long time and a very able wine list too. The lamb chops were melting in our mouth, the Haryali Bream what a well spiced dish and the mango rice pudding…hmmm. Would definately recommend to book as the restaurant seemed to be very busy even on a Monday. However don't miss it out as it is worth the salt.

First the good point: the food is really very good. Ok, you might think that this is the most important thing in a restaurant and, whilst it is clearly the raison d'être of a restaurant, you go out and spend money for the whole experience. At Trishna, the real problem lies in the decor: bare wooden floors and exposed brickwork may be oh so trendy and look achingly cool, but they also lead to sound bouncing around to such a degree that it is difficult to hold a conversation (the first time we went, we were sat next to a table of twelve: conversation was impossible).

If you go, and it is worth a try, go in summer, so that you can sit outside (or bring earplugs and a pen and paper, so that you can at least write to your companion, even if you can't hear them).

Trishna is a prime example of a restaurant where too much fusion has gone completely wrong! Overall we were dissatisfied with the restaurant – the portions were tiny and the food was extremely bland. The service was also extemely slow and they put us on a table at the back of the restaurant near the bar which had no atmosphere whatsoever. My starter (whitebait with chilli sauce) was absolutely disgusting and when I didn't eat all of it, they didn't even offer to bring me another starter. The only authentic thing about the restaurant was the dessert – gulab jamun was very good but again only one small piece per plate. I would definitely not recommend this place to anyone – overall very disappointing and not good value for money.

To start with the decor was modern, it was stylish but discreet. The way the restaurant is divided into sections enhances the atmosphere and gives a sense of privacy. The food was delicious and light. I could have eaten our meal all over again. My favourite was the lamb chops, but the bream and the fried squid were also excellent. The service was friendly and efficient and the courses were brought at just the right time. We even met the owner, Jo who was charming. It is good value for money as well as you get what you pay for with high quality food, service and a great location. Overall this is the best indian restaurant I have been to (including in India) and its emphasis on seafood gives it something special.

Dining at Trishna was a memorable experience. Although it was a busy night and it was a bit noisy, we felt thoroughly taken care of, and the standard of food was exceptional. The shrimp dish and succulent lamb chops were particularly special, with the lamb leg curry being our favourite. Desserts were light and different. Next time we will try the 6 course tasting menu, with the ideal wine tasting pairing. Ingredients of this quality are well worth their price, and the excellent service ensured we will return. Many thanks.

I have been to Trishna several times since its opening (as I work locally) and have eaten pretty much all of the dishes on the menu. What I like/is good about Trishna:

1. Food. Ingredients of absolutely best quality, cooked to perfection (most of the times) and presented in interesting ways. Seriously good food to eat, look at and smell. Miles ahead of food served in other mid to high end Indian restaurants and bears no comparison to them. Highlights for me: bream, prawns, mussels and picked crab (notice the seafood bias).

2. Décor / Ambience. Minimal, unobtrusive and understated with a clear Nordic influence. It could very well have been an organic coffee shop in Stockholm or a breakfast place in Oslo. For me, it allows you to focus on the food and people around you – unlike an overly theatrical or “busy” restaurant that detracts from the purpose of the visit.

3. Service. Naturally expectations of service in such a place are very high. Most of the times they get it right– i.e. staff are almost invisible but still there when you need them. There were a couple… More
