Square Meal Review of Tsunami ?

Less prominent than its rival Japanese heavyweights, Tsunami still manages to hold its own, backed by a chorus of admirers who find it ‘tremendous value’ and love the ‘fantastic food’. Dressed to the teeth in a mix of sleek white banquettes, body-hugging egg-shaped chairs and cherry-blossom prints, this is a sophisticated little place with a menu that oozes quality. Sushi and sashimi are the usual suspects, although posh twists liven up the offer – witness ultra-luxurious roast duck and foie-gras nigiri. Lip-smacking mains such as roasted pork belly with piri-piri hoisin sauce or steamed sea bass in saké are supported by near-perfect tempura, udon noodles and crisp Japanese-inspired salads, which chime perfectly with signature cocktails such as the Tequila-based Osaka’s dream. It all comes at a price, but this lively haunt is reckoned to be ‘worth every delicious mouthful’.

    inher30s :: Tsunami, Charlotte St

    Japanese fine dining takes on a glamorous turn when it comes to Tsunami. Sleek banquettes, purple mood lighting and Japanese art line the walls in the long narrow restaurant on Charlotte Street. The eye catching part is however undoubtedly the long buffet table of fresh sushi and sashimi. Saturdays have a deal available – for £30, you get unlimited appetisers, sushi, sashimi, a hot main and dessert. The £50 option also gains you unlimited champagne but for today, we’re not in a bubbly sort of mood, we’re doing the standard deal. Martini Mandate :: When Alcohol and Sex Don’t Mix

    I drank an Oyster Martini. It’s not a drink I ever wanted to have. It sounds slimy and suspect. However, I was in a good mood after a day at the Oval Cricket Grounds watching Sri Lanka beat Australia and the bartender convinced me to order an Oyster Martini. I was drinking up a storm at Tsunami, an unfortunately named Japanese restaurant with branches in the West End of London and in Clapham, South London. The martini in question was a dirty vodka martini (a “dirty” martini has olive brine poured into the vodka). It was unexpectedly delicious. Served super chilled, the brine of the dirty martini combines well with the saltiness of the oyster...
