At first glance as we arrived, we weren't sure that this was the right place to come to as the restaurant was empty – but then it was New Year's Day! As soon as we walked in, however, any doubts we had disappeared as our host greeted us with a warm smile and guided us to our table.

The menu was short enough not to be overwhelming. It was refreshingly unusual with some interesting Goan additions to the usual Indian repetoire. When in Rome…we of course chose Goan dishes which were outstanding, particularly the spinach/wholemeal roti. We decided not to choose starters, but were offered poppadoms with some delicious dips – mango chutney, lime pickle and mint yoghurt – not easily identified dishes which usually accompany poppadoms in a standard Indian restaurant.

Our main dishes, accompanied by fantastic and fluffy light saffron rice, were Goan Chicken Xacuti – tender and delicious, and a Goa Green Chicken Masala – deliciously tasty. All dishes were beautifully presented with delicate strips of fresh ginger on the main dishes and thin strips of crispy onion on the rice dishes.

If only our tummies were bigger…we could have eaten much more.
