Strangely, this rock & roll-themed bar/diner is about as mainstream as Shoreditch gets, in contrast to the edgy, arty scene that prevails. It’s a trippy-looking pit stop, with music posters from the 70s & 80s, African masks, & a ram-skull chandelier dangling from the ceiling; there’s a live-music venue down in the basement, & a big south-facing (& traffic-facing) terrace for those wanting some polluted air. Wines start at £14 for a Chilean Semillon/Chardonnay, with cocktails such as the Lynchburg lemonade, a classic bramble or strawberry daiquiri coming in under £7. The ‘food from the deli’ menu has become slightly more elaborate since the kitchen was renovated: as well as burgers & pizzas, you can now order char-grilled squid salad or chilli con carne with guacamole, sour cream & tortilla chips, all for around £7.
