Paul Daly of Zigfrid/Underbelly fame is consolidating his presence in Shoreditch with this watering hole inspired by mid 20th-century road movies such as Easy Rider & Wild At Heart. The Hispanic interior with its hints of psychedelic trippiness has David Lynch overtones – although a terrace overlooking the approach to Old Street roundabout ain’t exactly Route 66. A mix of new media mavericks & Sho-ho bohos rock the house to anything from techno bleeps to 1950s bop. Lubrication includes basic, classic cocktails (caipirinha, mojito, etc), 20-odd wines from £13, & lagers that largely eschew the country that inspired the bar – hence Michelob, but no punchier US brews. The deli counter may not run to the diversity of the real Manhattan McCoy, but this joint is still worth adding to any itinerary.
