This Moorish spot on three floors now comes with a shisha terrace, where you can partake of various hookah experiences, or just kick back with a ciggie & a bottle of Estrella. The menu revs up with sharing tapas – perhaps zaalouk (a Moroccan ‘cooked’ salad), patatas bravas or sweet-potato croquetas with aïoli, before notable mains including lamb tagine & paella Valenciana, made with Bomba rice. It’s rather a mishmash of ideas & influences, but the refurbished terracotta-painted rooms are cosy & full of escapist details such as Spanish tiles, vintage posters & brass tabletops from Tangiers – not to mention belly dancers & flamenco singers from time to time. The eclectic wine list now offers crowd-pleasing Montepulciano & Pinot Grigio – otherwise order a ‘bloody harissa’, if you’re feeling adventurous.
