This new branch of Bincho Yakitori may lack the superlative view of its Southbank sibling, but its sheer buzz more than makes amends. It’s already a hit, attracting hordes of twentysomethings, Japanese tourists & Soho’s usual denizens. On sunny days, you can people-watch at the open window; otherwise, perch on a stool in view of the open grills or retreat to one of the indoor tables. If you’re feeling peckish, stop off for a skewer or two from the extensive list of yakitori & kushiyaki: the sori (chicken oysters), unagi (eel) & enokibacon (mushroom & bacon) come highly recommended. Heartier appetites might want to top up with some fresh-cooked edamame & a salad of grilled salmon & shichimi pepper, or tender lamb cutlets with a smear of red miso. If you’re still hungry, ocha zuke – a mixture of rice, green tea & pickles – with a few slices of sea bream should fill any gaps.
