This funky late-night bar is one of the City’s bigger watering holes, though its dimensions aren’t entirely apparent as you arrive; the front is divided into several distinct areas, each with their own decorative theme, but it’s only when you reach the cantilevered stair down to the lower bar that you realise Abbey is more of a cathedral than a chapel. There’s plenty of room all around if you want to grab a pew & enjoy a cold poached salmon salad, gourmet burger or a veggie fajita with red onions, mangetout & courgettes. Wines start at £15.50, with a limited selection offered by the glass; there are cocktails too, plus Beck’s Vier, Staropramen or Stella for the lager fans. Monday nights are salsa nights, with lessons from 6.30pm.
