The Diner

The third in the mini-chain of The Diner restaurants has recently opened in Camden Town, bringing a hearty dose of Americana to the area. Much like its Soho & Shoreditch siblings, it's styled like a funky Stateside diner, serving up booth seating with red banquettes, 50s memorabilia on the walls & squeeze-your-own ketchup & mustard alongside a menu of burgers, breakfasts & Tex-Mex favourites. Generally, it's decently done stuff, from a tasty chicken burrito to meatloaf with gravy & greens, though we were a little disappointed by the bog-standard slices of toasted white bread served with a bowl of chilli con carne & a far too slimline slice of New York cheesecake. Staff are great and drinks range from shakes to unusual US beers & a selection of well-mixed cocktails – best sampled on the large roof terrace.
