Square Meal review of Concrete:
Imported Eastern bloc vodka (watch out for ‘2 for 1’ offers) & Baltika Russian lager on draught seem entirely appropriate for a functional canteen set deep in the Southbank’s Soviet cityscape. By day it’s a café with a selection of salads, sandwiches, before it morphs into a late-bar with everything from psychedelic to dubstep. Reasonably priced, good-to-find tipples include wines from off-the-beaten-track (Austria & Portugal), quality rye (Pikesville Straight), rum (Doorly’s five-year-old) & potent absinthe mojitos. Outside, a pink neon-edged concrete mixer by David Batchelor marks the spot.
