Square Meal review of The Carpenters Arms:
Unlike the fanciful boast of many Cockney establishments, the Krays really once owned this boozer. But it’s an indication of the area’s upward trajectory that a ‘shooter’ nowadays probably refers to a Tequila chaser. Having survived the wrecker’s ball, it’s now a free house with a dark, pleasantly retro feel & a drinks list running to Timothy Taylor’s Landlord, Adams Oyster Stout, a range of sturdy Germans & bottled Belgian heavyweights. Franco-American diner/ brasserie food will be available from June.
