The Upper Deck at the London Transport Museum

Venture to the top deck of the London Transport Museum shop & park yourself at this small Searcy’s café/bar to admire the views over Covent Garden Piazza. The sensibly priced daytime menu ranges from a full English breakfast or baked beans on toast, to burgers, bagels, salads & pasta, with a separate kids’ selection. Otherwise, sweet fancies such as Eton mess or freshly baked scones & cakes are just the ticket for some afternoon indulgence. Liquid refreshment covers everything from teas & juices to wines, beers & transport-themed cocktails such as the tipsy trainspotter (Absolut vodka, grenadine, orange & passion fruit juice). Disinterested service is a let-down, though the clever blend of bright white furniture & nostalgic moquette fabric seating (harking back to pre-war Northern Line trains) makes a pleasant change.
