The Beehive

Depending on your needs or viewpoint, The Beehive can be seen as a no-nonsense neighbourhood boozer or a smart, upscale gastropub down an elegant Marylebone side street. It was refurbished & re-opened by renowned restaurateur Claudio Pulze in 2008 & now looks like somewhere you might want to settle in for the afternoon: a woody affair with racing-green banquettes & a blackboard menu. There are plenty of draught beers, Meantime lager & pale ales, but at £3.80 a pint a few rounds will lighten your wallet considerably. Wines are mostly in the £20-40 bracket. The food is a mix of inexpensive, well-rendered pub staples – fish & chips with tartare sauce, burgers & club sandwiches, all under a tenner – plus more polished plates of pork belly with wild mushrooms & green beans, or côte de boeuf with béarnaise (£39.90 for sharing). Nice pavement picnic tables provide an alfresco setting in the summer.
