The matchless location at the entrance to London’s most central marina ensures that there’s usually plenty of nautical traffic to watch from the upstairs terraces at Riverlounge; crane your neck & you’ll see Tower Bridge too. For all the charm of its setting, this little timber-clad pavilion has seen its fair share of culinary comings & goings of late – although the place seems to have found its feet as a neighbourhood Italian. The menu is loaded with Caesar salads, familiar pasta dishes & cream sauces, but it can also spring the occasional surprise – grilled tuna served on a mixed salad with red fruits & a dusting of cocoa powder, for instance. Keenly priced set menus (£28 for three courses) are pitched at the passing tourist trade as well as Wapping locals.
