D.Sum²

A neat little equation by name & nature, D.Sum² serves up chic surroundings (white tablecloths, black fretwork & decorative silhouettes) & a wide range of Chinese dishes to suit all appetites. A long list of dim sum includes delicate scallop dumplings & great char sui bao – perfectly fluffy buns filled with sweetly sticky pork. But the menu also stretches to more substantial noodle dishes & main courses such as oven-baked sea bass in banana leaf & sirloin beef & gai lan (Chinese broccoli) in spicy sha-cha sauce. A reasonably priced & wide-roaming wine list provides liquid accompaniment or there are oriental liqueurs & cocktails such as the nashi martini (nashi pear, vodka, Xante liqueur, Cointreau, lychee juice). It’s busiest at lunchtime, when solo diners can eat at the square central bar, & while the brisk service is great if you’re in a hurry, it’s less welcome during a relaxed evening meal.
