Located on the first floor of a corner site with views over Regent Street, Veeraswamy is a perfect antidote to today’s neutral colour schemes and identikit interiors. This 80-year-old institution
(the UK’s oldest Indian) features a wonderfully unrestrained decor, modelled on the Maharajas’ palaces of the 1920s. The restaurant is full of colourful carpets, silk curtains, chandeliers,
candelabras, ebony tables and curious artefacts. Regional chefs produce their own specialities from across the sub-continent and there’s a strong emphasis on seafood. An exquisite party room seats
up to 24 guests for intimate events in private surrounds. Note that the entrance to this restaurant is on Swallow Street.
