Portree is the capital of Skye, which at 50-miles long is the largest of the Inner Hebrides. Situated on the east side, this small town looks over a sheltered bay and is a really pleasant spot to while away a few hours. Being just a stone’s throw from the infamous Old Man of Storr walk, Portree also provides the perfect pitstop to refuel before or after a hike.

Being an island community, the seafood here is stellar, so if you’re a fan of shellfish you’re in for a treat. Lobster, langoustine and crab are all commonplace at restaurants in Portree, while foraged ingredients also often find a home across the board. With local herbs, sea vegetables and berries in plentiful supply, Portee is a bit of a dream foodie destination.
