It's no surprise that a restaurant with such an intriguing name also has a rather 'out there' concept. Guilty by Olivier, London, is one of four restaurants from 'Chefpreneur' Olivier da Costa who hails from Lisbon, and boasts more than 20 years of international experience in the industry, including seven restaurants of his own, and another five on which he has consulted.
Guilty by Olivier aims to be a purveyor of 'foodporn', residing in the buzzy area of Shoreditch, it tempts diners with fantastical dishes, well and truly at odds with the health food movement. Instead, this restaurant is all about embracing your hunger, having fun and feeling no guilt.
As you might have guessed, the menu is lengthy and packed full with deliciously mouth-watering dishes. First up, we have a hearty selection of starters, ranging from Texas-style wings with 'Texas Pete' buffalo sauce and chives, alongside Mexican Appeal nachos with cheddar cheese, sour cream, guacamole, pico de gallo and jalapeño, and a Rolled Up Teaser which, if you haven't come across one before, is pizza dough with a special cheese selection, cured ham and black truffle paste.
Moving over to mains and it's decision time; will it be salads, pizza, pasta or burgers? There's plenty of options for all, including the Raclette burger which is stuffed with beef, garlic mayo, cress, parma ham, gherkin and raclette cheese on a brioche bun, the Opulent which takes things up a notch with a wagyu beef patty, black truffle and truffle mayonnaise, or the classic Guilty which brings together beef, lettuce, tomato, gherkin, red onion, cheddar cheese, bacon and a fried egg.
The pastas have fun names such as Stunning (spaghetti with king prawns and coriander), Comforting (mac and cheese, bolognese, bechamel) and Amusing (gnocchi with baked pumpkin purée and goats cheese pesto), which add an immersive vibe. And, pizzas mix classic toppings with slightly more outlandish ones, like the Galant Calzone with duck confit, mushrooms, truffle flavoured olive oil and cream.
