Chef Bruno Loubet and the thinking drinker’s top wizard, Tony Conigliaro, are the talent behind this agreeably overstuffed and spice-toned study-cum-drawing room. Sink into a sofa by the open fire and indulge in typical new-Edwardian tipples – riffs on Old Fashioned served in vintage stemware. Try Drie Van Drie (seaweed-infused whisky, sherry and salted liquorice bitters) or a Flintlock (Beefeater 24 gin, gunpowder tea tincture, Fernet Branca, dandelion and burdock bitters). Loubet’s ‘small eats’ include lamb sliders with mint relish, baked artichoke vinaigrette, and herring roes on toast with capers, chilli and lemon, or Scotch eggs, sharing platters and calorific comfort puds. A classic Clerkenwell bolthole.
