The group behind Goodman, Beast and Burger & Lobster has named its Rex & Mariano replacement after its founder, Mikhail ‘Misha’ Zelman. Daily changing cuts of USDA Black Angus are available, with cuts being announced every day on its social media channels. The focus here is on winning your dinner, rather than paying for it: to enter the weekly Meat Raffle, diners are invited to submit their details to the website for a chance to win 1kg of meat, cooked to whatever specification you choose. Three weekly winners have a month to redeem – all you have to pay for is sides and drinks. Starters and sides dishes focus on seasonal vegetables but we're not sure most diners will notice, as they'll be busy devouring piles of meat.
A cold, rainy night in central London. Wandering through Soho, we wanted good quality, comforting food without the need to queue in the street or be turned away from venue after venue. Or in other words; meat. In all honesty we were using St Ann&s Court as a cut through to get from Dean Street to Whitcomb when we remembered Zelman Meats. Pescatarians be darned, St Anne&s Court is now for the carnivores. But can this new venture from the Goodman Restaurant Group live up to the standard of Burger & Lobster, Beast, and Goodman success? If it lies on the strength of its logo, which reminds me of a superhero emblem, then perhaps it&s on to good things. The place is transformed into a proper steakhouse, with faux-leather upholstered booths and warm dim lighting. Memories of Rex & Mariano and Goodman restos are apparent on the...

It has been a while since I reviewed a meat heavy eatery so I thought it was about time to pay the butcher a visit. With a very original name like Zelman Meats, (maybe they are vegetarian), I had high hopes that it would be another good steak restaurant like Goodmans. Oh, by the way it’s from the same group. Actually, the restaurant used to be called Rex & Mariano, a seafood restaurant. Unfortunately, it went belly up and capsized. Then Zelman was born although like most shipwrecks (except the Titanic) bits of floating wreckage surfaces. We were served with bottles still boldly embossed Rex & Mariano....
