Square Meal Review of Yum Bun ?

Not one to be pinned down, street-food hero Lisa Meyer has found a home for her famous Vietnamese steamed buns, but this new address isn't permanent – the building in which she's currently based is set to be demolished at the end of 2013. For now, however, you'll find an expanded menu of buns, with namban chicken and melt-in-your-mouth slow-braised ox cheek joining traditional Yum Bun staples of pork belly and portobello mushrooms. Customers can mix-and-match (two for £6), but for a reasonably priced fill-up, plump for one of the bento boxes (£7.50), which include two buns, vegetable gyoza, miso soup and a small salad. The tiny little space is standing-room only, so customers generally eat on the hop; in theory, punters can also take their food into Rotary, the 1970s-themed bar/diner next door.

    the dinersaur :: yum bun

    Round about the time when I first opened my eyes and ears to the street food scene in London a couple of months into my time here, one of the main talks of the town was the opening of Yum Bun in an indoor location. For quite a while I've been meaning to try them out, especially since they're really quite close to me, and finally I did! Their charming little shop front is annexed to Rotary just round the corner from Old Street station (and another place I'm dying to visit!) so although there is very minimal space to eat your very yummy yum buns in the store, you are welcome to take your buns next door if you get a...

    Over the Hype :: Perky Yum Buns

    My destination today is Yum Bun, street vendor turned permanent fixture opposite Old Street tube station.

    The crowd started pouring in a little after 6 and the waiting times understandably became longer. If you didn’t want to stand by the tiny service desk, the shop has a few stools and a bench outside for you to perch your buns on whilst you wait for the other ones to steam...

    Living La Vida London :: Yum Bun

    It was easy to find – the shop itself is tiny, right next to Rotary Bar and Diner. The people behind the wooden counter were smiley and friendly, which frankly can be a rarity all of it’s own in London – meaning I was already pretty impressed before I even got the bun!...

  1. Yum Bun has been very popular in the London street-food scene and has won many awards. Since March 2013, Yum Bun has a more permanent home in Shoreditch, just a stones throw away from Old Street tube station.

    Situated next door to Rotary, Yum Bun is hidden away on Featherstone street and is a tiny eaterie however don’t let the size put you off as both restaurants are linked and hold a mutual understanding; customers of Yum Bun are welcome to sit and enjoy their buns as long as you order a beverage...

    Foodie Force :: Yummy Lunch - Yum Bun

    In a concerted effort to steer clear of the usual sandwiches for lunch, I venture to Yum Bun open Mon-Fri 11.30am-2.30pm. They sell hand-made steamed buns - soft, warm and perfect for scoffing in Winter.

    Yum Bun have an exciting menu of four choices of steamed buns (Mushroom, Chicken, Pork and Pollock)...

    TRUsocial :: TRUsocial: Street Feast Hawker

    A hipster homage to a traditional Singaporean hawker centre, Hawker House hosts a taste sensational selection of food stalls, with my clear favourite still being Yum Bun - if only my belly could fit in whole basket of those deliciously soft steamed buns (the crispy shrimp buns are unquestionably to die for!)...
