Local visitors to Vyner Street’s Wharf Kitchen will be delighted to recognise a familiar face behind the counter – that of chef Matthew Casey, latterly of near-neighbour This Bright Field. Casey is a talented chap and his short daily menus always go above and beyond. Austrian ‘gulasch’ (soup) or smashed
avocado with tomato relish and feta on rye are joined by a slow-cooked daily special such as mince and tatties, while drinks bring organic Columbian coffee, juices and cocktails (the latter on
Friday nights only for now). Wharf Kitchen serves as a canteen for the Lime Wharf ‘cultural innovation hub’, and it’s a fashionably bare, rather rustic room with German ‘Biergarten’ tables
brightened up by displays of fresh produce and vintage crockery. Casey and co also cater for special events within Lime Wharf itself.
