More easy, classy Japanese food just south of the river, with this branch from a small likeable chain. Having already built up a loyal local following, the restaurant still offers its most popular dishes – the crispy sweet and sour chicken katsu curry that brings customers back time and time again, and simple, sustainable budget sushi dishes. But the menu has expanded to take in some of London’s other favourite Japanese dishes. Expect great ramens – the chilli chicken is the current hot seller, along with clam sakamushi – clams and mushrooms blanched in sake, as well as some serious cocktails. My Friend Martin, involving chase elderflower, gin and Earl Grey tea gets our vote.
