Housed in a converted Haggerston railway arch, Trip Bar & Kitchen’s washed brick and functional minimalist decor is the backdrop to resident pop-up duo Breddos' take on Mexican/ American street food. For dinner (Tues-Sat), anticipate creative tacos ranging from mushroom, walnut and porcini to baja fish with lime aïoli and jalapeño, in addition to pork pibil, beetroot and carrot tostadas, grilled mackerel with peanut and radish salsa or chicken wings with avocado mojo. Otherwise, weekend brunch includes pancakes with fried chicken, huevos rancheros, chorizo muffins with chipotle catsup, and various Tijuana takes on the good old full English. Five Points beer, eclectic wines, frozen José Cuervo margaritas, daiquiris, mules and chillibacks are the drinks of choice. Special events on Sundays such as ‘bourbon, blues and beer’ are also worth the trip up Kingsland Road.
