Two championship golf courses, 1,000 acres of prime Northumberland countryside & first-rate spa, leisure & conference facilities provide the backdrop to this much extended, multi-tasking luxury hotel. Expect a modern-twist classic menu in very formal surrounds. Luxury is evident in the confit duck & foie gras terrine, which comes accompanied by a luscious preserved walnut & lime marmalade, while fish comes in many a haute cuisine guise – witness monkfish and scallop pot-au-feu. The legendary cellar completes the picture, as do the not wholly unexpected top-end prices.
