After a much needed brightening and refurbishment, The Radcliffe’s new owners Mark and Nicky Craven are squaring their shoulders and looking to the future. They’ve knocked down internal walls to give the premises more light, installed a lovely new garden and revamped the menu. They’ve no intention of changing from a pub, but customers enjoying a pint at the bar now have the chance to order a home-made scotch egg, a mixed mezze or a sausage roll. Those going in for a proper meal though have the choice of scallops, souffles, local steaks or sea trout with lemon butter sauce. The weekly-changing Sunday lunch menu is a particular speciality and covers all the usual bases, with perhaps haddock and sea trout parcels or a spinach and goats’ cheese Wellington thrown into the mix too.
