A modern steakhouse from the Living Ventures Group, The Grill on New York Street is buzzy yet refined, with classy neutral decor and a Manhattan loft feel. The menu focuses on 28-day aged steaks, fresh fish and seafood, plus inventive cocktails. Starters are good – we enjoyed a smoked duck salad – but it’s really all about beef here, with main courses that include traditional steaks alongside Wagyu fillet and ‘big boy cuts’ such as tomahawk or porterhouse. It’s worth spending extra on the Best of British range, featuring Redman Limousin pure-breed grass-fed beef. Limousin rib-eye was well-marbled with robust flavour and an appealing char from the grill; and we adored a flawlessly cooked deep-red fillet, the seared flesh enhanced by creamy peppercorn sauce and buttery mash to soak up the meaty juices. To finish, try one of the boozy ‘liquid desserts’ which include Fruit Salad Martini, Lemon Sherbet and Tiramisu cocktails.
