A cute, quirky celebration of all things shabby-chic, The Butterfly & The Pig does its stuff as a city drinking den and casual eatery, with live entertainment seven nights a week. Mismatched furniture, curios from granny’s sitting room, OTT wallpaper, battered sofas and some bucolic touches set the scene for a crazy menu full of jokes, odd names and chatty asides. Mighty portions are a given, whether you’re tackling the ‘butterfly and piglet’ burger, ‘sir’ sirloin steak with ‘lord’ peppercorn sauce or the house special – ‘open’ salmon fishcakes presented in a Le Creuset pan with creamy egg oozing through them. Music comes from eclectic live bands, DJs and open-mic contenders, the pub quiz is legendary and comedy nights are now a regular feature.
