Missed a trick as nothing special.
We were really excited about having a new place to go for dinner on Bellenden Road and thought the decor and set up of the new restaurant looked fabulous.
But sadly after our first visit to the Beautiful pizza boy, we were left feeling pretty disappointed.
First off is the music. The sound system is terrible, and the music so loud you can't hear yourself think which makes for a less than relaxing ambience. We asked for it to be turned down so we could have a conversation but were told some tracks were louder than others. It's really off putting and just gets on your nerves.
The arancini balls were flavourless and an odd texture, the pizza's distinctly average lacking that real Italian flavour.
We did give it another chance and went a second time - some of the pizza's were cold and whilst the staff were accommodating in getting us new ones this just meant we were all out of sync with our food. The staff are actually quite friendly though there's a strange tall guy who wafts around always on his mobile ignoring customers as they come and go.
It's a shame as it's a prime location and we'd have been regulars if it had been better. It's just can't compete with Artusi and The Begging Bowl which are just on a different level.
