Square Meal Review of Terroirs ?

Foodies are becoming spoiled for choice along William IV Street, but Terroirs remains one of the area’s gems, offering an authentic slice of Gallic savoir-faire just off Trafalgar Square. Set over two floors (street-level wine bar and basement dining room) and simply decorated with bentwood chairs and vintage French posters, it’s invariably packed – though there’s usually space at the cosy bar for walk-ins. A pared-back menu features robust cooking with a French accent and allows well-sourced ingredients to shine. The selection changes daily but might include rustic Morteau sausage matched with earthy Puy lentils and mustard, velvety cod brandade and the sinfully rich duck rillettes. Oozing cheeses and regional charcuterie add further flavour. As with its siblings Brawn, Soif and Green Man & French Horn, the wine list here is a particular delight, championing natural, organic and biodynamic wines from small growers.     vialaporte :: Terroirs // Covent Garden // London

    Oddly placed between Trafalgar Square, Charing Cross and Covent Garden is Terroirs; perhaps not the kind of area that a foodie would dream to eat in. But those who look down their nose at this establishment will be missing-out. Despite the location, the restaurant is not filled with tourists. The regulars here are all sorts of Londoners - business colleagues, friends, even couples on their first date. As for the menu, it’s pure French bistrot...
