SALVATORE'S CLOSED PERMANENTLY IN MARCH 2016

Accessible to the non-members, the Playboy Club's main bar is a 60s-styled looker – think Modesty Blaise meets The Man from U.N.C.L.E. Staffed by iconic Bunny Girls, this is the domain of sharp shaker Salvatore Calabrese, whose peerless mixology is accessible to any suitably presentable playboy or girl interested in a Breakfast Martini or Spicy Fifty (vanilla vodka, elderflower, lime, honey and chilli) – two signatures from a tempting list of old-guard and avant-garde calls. Like its founder Hugh Hefner, extravagance is hardwired into the gaff's DNA, so don't be seduced by the siren call of a wall of rare, vintage spirits. Legacy (a concoction involving Clos de Griffier Cognac and Kümmel bottled in the 18th century) costs £5,500 – a sum that will easily buy you Salvatore's Kingston Crusta every day for the next year.
Now we realise that we haven't done many proper afternoon tea review articles this month, so we thought it was high time that we indulged in a spot of afternoon tea (all in the name of research you see)! For our festive afternoon tea with our friends we decided to head back to the Playboy Club near Park Lane London for their festive offering. The Playboy Club was probably the venue we were most pleasantly surprised by this year - not only offering excellent service and food, but also good value too. With this in mind we were really looking forward to trying their festive afternoon tea feast. As you'll remember...
