Tapas comes in many forms, from traditional to fusion, nouvelle to foam-infused. Here it’s self-service pintxos – a Basque variation in which mouthfuls of food are served skewered on little wooden
sticks. Most dishes come on a hunk of bread, & the list ranges from the deliciously unusual (gazpacho & langoustine shot, quince-coated chorizo) to more common offerings such as Ibérico ham
& zucchini, or quail’s egg with morcilla – all for a winning £2.50 a pop. As a change from churros, finish with chocolate-coated strawberries & candied tarragon. The bar lends itself to
leisurely, help-yourself grazing, but there is plenty of table space for sit-down meals in the dining room. Friendly waiters know their stuff, & the food is backed by expertly made cocktails
& good Spanish wines.
