Whether you’re eating at the attractively curved sushi bar, or on tatami seating at blond-wood tables in the main dining area, Okawari is a calming venue for a Japanese meal. Well into its second decade, the place has gained much local respect for its wide-ranging menu & reasonable pricing. Plump for sushi & you have the likes of eel, sea urchin & surf clam to choose from, as well as the usual roster of tuna, salmon & suchlike. Alternatively, order gyoza dumplings followed by chicken ramen noodles, a fish cutlet curry or (if deliberating is too stressful) a bento box. Round off with a glass of plum wine & some banana tempura. Upstairs is a function room complete with karaoke machine, though it might be unwise to tackle My Way after an okawari (‘double helping’).
