Square Meal Review of Nobu London at the Metropolitan Hotel ?

The first Nobu outside the US opened in 1997 and while countless imitations have rendered its pioneering fusion approach familiar, the collision of Japanese and global cooking techniques has never been bettered. We’d recommend ordering the dishes that made chef Nobuyuki Matsuhisa famous: kushiyaki and anticucho skewers (spicy chicken for preference), tuna tataki with ponzu, new-style sashimi (seared with a hot sauce for people who dislike raw fish) and the legendary black cod with miso. There’s also the finest of classically prepared sushi to remind you that behind the innovation is a rock-solid mastery of Japanese preparation. But while the cooking is as good as ever, some say that “the atmosphere has fallen off” – no bad thing, perhaps. Nobu London is now more family orientated and calmer than its frenetic sibling on Berkeley Street, not least due to the views over Hyde Park and the 1990s minimalism of the interior. Alas, one family trait it seems to share is “surly” service.

    My Friends Recommend :: Nobu

    Nobu has become synonymous with celebrity dining over the years. Barely a week goes by without a famous face being papped leaving one of the restaurants. It wouldn’t have been so popular for so long without good reason. Great Japanese food and flawless service help make this one of the most glamorous chains of restaurants in the world...

    ytTastes :: Dinner at Nobu

    Ah Nobu… the occasion to dine there? Just as a lead up to Chinese New Year 2013 and part belated birthday celebrations of two family members! The Old Park Lane, one of the notoriously difficult areas to find parking, I found myself rushing and cursing to meet the rest of my family there on time. However, much to my relief, I wasn’t the only one delayed, so had time to sit by the bar to recompose myself. So while waiting I decided to try the Olympus OM-D in low light (no flash) and took the candle & menu below.

    I am still undecided about Nobu as I watch the guests enter. The bar is a nice relaxed area but...

    wetrykai :: Nobu -€“ Japanese the way it was intended

    I had just finished my last day at my job and thought I’d keeping the good times rolling by celebrating the event with a nice meal. Such a life milestone, however minor in the grand scheme of things, required a venue to match and so fittingly, I decided to treat myself and T to Nobu for some high-end Japanese – my cuisine of choice. In truth I just needed an excuse and this was the best one – my alternative was going to be because of my recent new hairstyle but that didn’t quite seem to cut it (pun completely intended).

    I was pulling out all the stops on this visit and was ready to eat up a storm with an...

    The Food Connoisseur :: My date with – Nobu Park Lane

    Hello, Nobu! I don’t know what it is but your simply irresistible to me. A name known to mankind, plastered all over glossy magazines I’ve read and TV shows. It was a matter of time for to me to finally dine; the 10-year wait is finally over.

    Nobu has international restaurants around the world. London has two, having speaking to Regis Cursan on the regular. The pastry dessert chef at Nobu restaurants he recommended Old Park Lane for stunning views over Hyde Park...
