I'm a sucker for a proper, old-style French restaurant. An Art Deco, zinc-barred, set lunch kind of place that does a nice line in Kirs, Noilly Prat and rare lagers like Meteor, and has a semi-open kitchen that garnishes absolutely everything with parsley chiffonade. Except the crème brûlée. And there is always a crème brûlée. On that basis alone, Le Bistrot Pierre was worth checking out. The menu could disappoint those expecting things to be, well, 'French'.
