Squaremeal Review of L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon ?

He oversees a restaurant empire with more Michelin stars than any other chef on the planet, so you can expect something pretty special at Joël Robuchon's chic London eatery. The best action plays out in the seductive ground-floor L'Atelier, where a living wall of glossy green leaves and sleek black furniture frame a mesmerising open kitchen. Get your thrills at the counter as chefs prepare "clever" multi-layered small plates that will take your breath away: a soft poached egg, coated in crisp rice batter and topped with smoked duck; seared slivers of mackerel with daikon and shiso purée, tempered with sweet plum mayonnaise; perfectly caramelised quail stuffed with foie gras alongside Robuchon's famous mash. Readers praise the "excellent wine list" too. Upstairs, the more formal La Cuisine is ideal for business meets, while the top floor houses a bijou terrace and "funky bar" with "great cocktails". Service is perfectly pitched.

I have been to L’Atelier many times before, but only to make use of the quiet tucked away cocktail bar upstairs. I would sink into one of the comfy fluffy sofa chairs to celebrate the end of a fun packed week with some friends. Sometimes, the bartender would even make a cocktail personalised for each guest, mine was a bubblegum vodka with white chocolate, it was incredible!

This was the first time I have returned to dine here. I knew that L’Atelier had two Michelin stars, but lost its second one in 2013, so I was interested to find out what kind of experience awaits me...

L&Atelier de Joël Robuchon is located on the edge of Covent Garden. The impressive façade is quite something to behold, and is a sight that sets the tone of things to come.
As we entered L&Atelier de Joël Robuchon we were shown to the elevator which transported us to the top floor and into the saloon bar.
