About

Ooh la la! This exquisite little café brings a touch of Parisian sophistication to an otherwise scruffy stretch leading up to Brighton station. Julien Plumart – a handsome, well-mannered Frenchman who trained under Raymond Blanc – is the patissier extraordinaire responsible for the beautifully crafted macarons, fruit tarts and eclairs that decorate the shop window. His elaborate sweet treats are created fresh each morning for sale in the 1930s-style tea room, which sports silhouettes of the Parisian skyline. Try the slow-cooked apple tart or indulge in a raspberry and passion fruit délice. Quiche, tartines and baguettes keep those with a savoury tooth happy, and there’s a creditable selection of coffees and teas. Plumart’s other outlet (Boutique et Salon de The on Duke Street) is also well worth a visit.
