You probably wouldn’t cross town for it, but this stripped-back, dinky DJ dive bar has won over Putney’s party posse. Priced around £8, London cocktail staples such as caipiroska, porn star, breakfast and espresso martinis join modish revivals including grasshopper, Aperol spritz, and screaming orgasm – for those with memories of big nights out in Benidorm. Otherwise, Xero (Polish potato vodka encased in its trademark frozen jacket) is a popular call at £35, and there’s the inevitable shooter nonsense – Chambord and Baileys ‘jammy doughnut’, anyone? Bar bites include chicken wings, chipolatas, nachos and a trio of sharing platters, while set lunches (two courses for £10.95) and dinner in the restaurant tread a largely Anglo-European path: scallops wrapped in pancetta with fennel and dried-tomato salsa, mushroom ravioli with pesto, and pressed pork belly with apple purée, for instance.
