Launched in 2014, Hawksmoor Knightsbridge already feels like a restaurant that's been with us forever. From the dark-wood reception to debonair bar and art deco-inspired dining room, this subterranean spot is arguably the group's classiest outlet yet. Unexpected South-East Asian seafood influences set it apart from its siblings: our Vietnamese dressed oysters, topped with crunchy shallots, were gloriously unique, while the messy, coriander-infused Singapore devilled lobster is a real humdinger. Elsewhere, Hawksmoor's "expertly cooked" British-reared steaks, Tamworth pork ribs, bone marrow et al are still the carnivorous showstoppers, ahead of desserts including a decadent homage to Ferrero Rocher. Casually dressed staff mix five-star service with well-tuned bonhomie, while the bartenders dispense a list of bespoke Knightsbridge-inspired cocktails. "Rarely have I seen such happy campers!" exclaimed one contented soul partaking in the restaurant's "exceedingly clever" Monday night BYO offer.
I’m not going to tell you how amazing Hawksmoor’s steaks are, because you already know. EVERYONE already knows. (And if you don’t, then the rumours are true. Hawksmoor steaks are fucking brilliant.)They are also – like many fucking brilliant things – quite expensive. BUT I have found a bargain with old mate Bookatable, which is a London Restaurant Festival partner and year-round cave of wonders, if you consider a city-wide selection of exclusive restaurant deals wonderful (which of course you do).

Hawksmoor had been open for just a couple of months when we chose to visit - and we were very excited to check it out. You can find Hawksmoor tucked away underground in Knightsbridge, but don’t let that fool you, this is a restaurant with plenty of space.Having undergone what is clear to see must have been a serious redesign - this restaurant is simply beautiful.
