Laid-back Aussie chef and adopted Londoner Bill Granger is already known to millions on TV, and has expanded his London repertoire further with the launch of this Clerkenwell eatery which follows
in the footsteps of his original in Notting Hill. The kitchen deals in big Antipodean flavours with a heavy splash of South-East Asian colour – perhaps salmon ceviche with grapefruit, creamy
avocado and sesame, or turmeric-spiced chicken with slaw, lime and coconut dressing. Desserts such as banana fritters with citrus caramel are to die for, and Granger’s reputation as the ‘egg master
of Sydney’ ensures that breakfast doesn’t disappoint.
A casual all-day restaurant, Granger & Co. in Clerkenwell is the second London branch opened by Australian restaurateur, Bill Granger, following in the footsteps of the Notting Hill branch which was first opened in 2011. Aware of the no-reservation policy, we arrived about 11am on a Sunday, and managed to be seated almost immediately along the comfortable cream sofas on the side. There were also some papers and magazines laid out on the bar which customers may choose to read at their leisure. | flat white | | sweetcorn fritters, roast tomato, spinach & bacon | Vivienne went for the sweetcorn fritters, and we both...

Antipodeans all over London rejoiced the day that Aussie Chef Bill Granger set up shop in London, he brought with him a taste of home, in the form of the humble Sweetcorn fritter. Â At his Notting Hill branch, they’re served crispy and golden with a side of avocado and bacon, just the way I remember.…

The second London venture of Granger & Co. (the first one being in Notting Hill) is bright and modern. A chic white staircase leads you up to the dining room which overlooks a leafy corner of Clerkenwell. The food on offer is Granger’s signature fresh and tasty cuisine.Known for being a self-taught cook, Granger has always endorsed the quality of ingredients over process. Each dish is a great example of his sourcing philosophy. The Korean fried chicken comes with iceberg lettuce, spring onions and chilli sesame; a simple gourmet treat that has crunch and zip. If you’d prefer something lighter, try...

I had a lot of fun during my recent visit to Granger & Co Clerkenwell. Aussie restauranteur Bill Granger’s latest restaurant in a selective global portfolio – which includes a well established eatery in Notting Hill along with outlets in Sydney, Tokyo, and Hawaii – features a playfully palate pleasing menu served in a comfortable and lavishly spacious dining room. Here are a few highlights from my dinner.Granger & Co is an ideal venue for special occasions that you still want to retain something of a casual air. The space itself impressed me upon my entrance and throughout my meal with its clean line deisign,...

Remember Clerkenwell before Caravan and Modern Pantry? When it was too close to the rough and tumble of Kings Cross to be proper chic? I do. Now with Crossrail tunnelled through, Kings Cross almost cleaned up and revolutionary levels of redevelopment, so much of the edgy cool character of Clerkenwell is going, going gone. Replaced with something much more tarted up, more international and some might say, homogenised. This, dear reader, is why I had two minds of the opening of Bill Granger’s Granger And Co in Clerkenwell Green. On the one hand, a revered (Bill’s breakfast eggs were almost as popular as his...

Bill Granger is something like the Australian version of Jamie Oliver. Well along those lines, anyway. Bill has been a prominent voice in the cheffing world for twenty years, and famously serves a mean brunch – he’s quite famous for his speciality creamy scrambled eggs.About Granger and Co, ClerkenwellGranger and Co. in Clerkenwell is Bill Granger’s eighth restaurant, which follows four Japanese joints, another in London and two in his homeland of Sydney Australia...

One of my absolute favourite things to do in London on a weekend, is brunch. A controversial term depicted by many and raising the question, ‘Why bother adding an extra meal, surely breakfast or lunch is sufficient?’ I’m not here to convince you otherwise but brunch gives lazy, indecisive weekenders, (most likely topped with an insufferable hangover) not only the chance to experience both in one sitting, but at a later time in the day with plenty more to choose from.Living in Clerkenwell, I have many brunch options available, all of which are pretty good (Modern Pantry and Caravan, just to name a few). Granger...
