Square Meal Review of First Edition ?

You might expect a wine bar and restaurant in the heart of Cabot Square to be corporate and soulless, but First Edition's owner has tried to jolly it up with a quirky seaside theme – think whitewashed wooden floors and booth curtains fashioned from deckchair-striped fabric. The menu is an international hotchpotch, ranging from bar bites of crab samosas, chicken teriyaki skewers and mini tofu cakes to a warm salad of scallops and bacon with walnut and raspberry dressing, Caesar salad, tuna steak with fries or confit duck with sauté potatoes and bordelaise sauce. The thoughtfully chosen wine list is well worth a tour too, with plenty to suit all palates and pockets. High summer is when cool and airy First Edition really comes into its own, though a vast patio is kept open all year.
