The waterside setting close to Glengall Bridge is more Amsterdam than Andalucia, yet one glance at the menu is enough to assure you that El Faro (‘The Lighthouse’) is, in culinary terms at least,
fiercely Iberian – from the starters of tortilla or octopus Galician-style to the crema catalana for dessert. They’re at pains here to point out that there’s more to Spanish food than tapas,
underlining the fact with main courses such as roast Segovia suckling pig with mushroom terrine & citrus jam or grilled red tuna with lemon thyme, tomato & basil tartar & hazelnut
mayonnaise. Decor is understated – a single large flower arrangement rescues it from outright austerity, while the south-facing dockside terrace is a good bet on a fine day.
