With plenty of miles (and years) on the clock, Eight Over Eight might feel like a relative oldie in these parts, but don't be fooled – we reckon it's as youthful and "buzzy" as the day it opened. Modish black-and-cream interiors are pointed up with ornate oriental screens, table-top napkin dispensers and chopstick holders, while the adjoining bar "hums" every night of the week. The food offers a handy alternative to London's pan-Asian super-league, with prices tweaked accordingly – "although this part of town is never cheap", warns one regular. The "reliable" sharing menu cruises its way through high-quality dim sum, salads, curries, stir-fries and so on – think chilli salt squid, gyoza dumplings, sea bass sashimi, BBQ Korean lamb with kimchi and, of course, black cod in miso. Wines cope well with the spicy flavours, Asian-inspired cocktails are taken seriously and service is "relatively edgy – at least for SW3".
A couple of years ago, Tatler, the magazine synonymous with goings on along the King’s Road, said the following in its 2013 Restaurant Guide: ‘The great thing about Eight Over Eight is how consistent it is. Dinner on a Monday, late lunch on Sunday, even when the Mongol hordes descend on a Friday or Saturday night, it goes on doing what it does so well’.

A few Sunday’s back, Michael, William, Hash, and I, decided to have a ‘Sunday Fun Day’ at an old favourite of Michael’s & mine, Eight over Eight. Although always keen for a spot of fun, the main reason that we chose to dine on a Sunday is because the restaurant offers an outrageously good deal of 40% off its delicious Asian food every Sunday! Hence when Michael lived in Notting Hill, we would regularly scoot over to the King’s Road for our Sunday dinner but, since moving east, we haven’t been back – so a visit was long overdue!...

I used to love Sex and the City and have watched every episode several times. Like the show, in my twenties I had three very special girlfriends, we all lived close to each other and we regularly used to meet for supper at Eight Over Eight - it was "our place".

I used to love Sex and the City and have watched every episode several times. Like the show, in my twenties I had three very special girlfriends, we all lived close to each other and we regularly used to meet for supper at Eight Over Eight - it was "our place". Fast forward a few years and there have been transatlantic moves, marriages, divorces, babies and so on and it has been a while since we have all got together. However 2 of us had a trip time memory lane to Eight Over Eight last night and it was great to be back. Eight Over Eight is a Pan Asian restaurant owned by restauranteur Will Ricker.
